Because they misplace their anger.

A lot of Americans 'hate' the French as they're told to do so by the media, and government influence ... Takes the heat off when people are looking too closely at what their own govt is doing, when they turn their anger against someone else ...

The politics of Criticism Diversion ;^)

Shame that too many Americans do actually fall into this 'sheep' attitude without seeing things for themselves ... but only to be expected in a nation where non-patriotic paranoia is rife, and where the media (and govt influence) controls public thought to such an extent ...

Some of the reasons given are so babyish, so immature ... and as for 'Freedom Fries' ... well, what more can you say ?

Shame that so many Americans do not actually know any French people: They'd see them much as themselves, in fact ...

;^)

People hate the French because they have such an inflated sense of importance. They still think the world revolves around them. They hate Americans, despite the fact that Americans have had to save them in World War 1 and 2. The French are against basically anything that America wants to do (i.e. removing genocidal dictators) due to their extensive economic interests with those dictators. France has been working hard to force other European nations to vote as France would like them to in the U.N. as blackmail for those who would like to join the European Union (E.U.). Despite the fact that (American) English has a large amount of French words in it, the French find it so offensive to speak English that they come up with new French words rather than speaking English words such as 'Internet' and 'email'.

Because their political agenda has been anti-USA in many cases. Here are just a few examples....

They refused the US air space in the Gulf War, they refused to send a murderer back to the US until his original trial was thrown out and he was given a new trial, they named a street in one of the suburbs of Paris after a cop killer, and they genuinely treat Americans poorly.

Many people in the US feel that the French look down on their country, and the French seem to enjoy that reputation. World War II veterans are especially offended by this as they feel that they fought to free the French from the Nazi party, and France turned its back on them and their country...

Mostly it's because of the image portrayed by the popular media. The French are NOT bad people. They are victims of the same thing in regard to us "Yanks". Meet a few of them and find out for yoursef is what I'd suggest.

People don't hate the French!

I am an Anglophone Canadian, and I don't know anyone who hates the French. We even have our daughter in French Immersion so she can learn their beautiful language.

If anyone hates them, maybe it is because they are jealous?

I do not know. However, someone told me this: Napoleon took the cream of France to Russia, and most of them perished. Therefore, the French men you see now are the progeny of the ones that stayed back home, and they prove Charles Darwin right. What else could you expect?

Most of us don't hate the French.

I might wish they bathed more often, but other than that I have nothing but love and respect for the French people.

il faut être abruti pour haïr tout un peuple sans les connaitre réellement.

it's so easy to judge people and choose to hate them without even knowing them.

I travel often to the USA, I've met people with very poor culture, but also americans who have PhD's.
and so far I don't pretend I know americans, because it's stupid to generalize!

for those who hate french people, just give up the big mac and jerry springer show and come to visit France and make your own opinion!

Mentally- they are (or at least one of) the most arrogant, ignorant, narrow and close-minded, jealous, cold, rude, aggressive, crabby, lame, paranoid, ridiculously complex and dirty people ever.

Politcally- would take too long to explain why it's so terrible, so just to say it briefly: pathetically illusional.

Physically- personally, I've never seen so many masculine women and homosexually-like feminine men in France. Disgusting.

Basically, the whole country and its people are gradually going very downhill.

Thank you for reading.
