As a Christian, I am always excited to hear of someone willing and wanting to take that next step of faith. However, children should not, and can not be baptized without the consent of a parent(s). Parents know (or at least should know) better than anyone else whether or not their child is ready and mature enough to know and understand what baptism means to them and their relationship with the Lord.

Once the baptism is done, however, there is not much you can do to change the fact the baptism took place. One thing you can do is remove your child from that church, making sure the preacher and its leadership know why you have made this decision. I would be very concerned about any church that has leaders who do not place much if any emphasis on respecting a parents wishes in regards to their children. Especially when the Bible places such a high priority on honoring and obeying parents in the first place.

Now, if this is a situation where the parents have divorced, and one parent wanted the baptism to take place and the other either did not want the baptism or wanted to wait until they were able to be there for the baptism, whichever parent had custody is going to have priority.

Yes, they do baptize children. I can remember attending a church summer school when I was young (about 10) and afterwords some neighbors got together with the preacher and baptized me. My parents hadn't attended.

It was a great lesson for me by teaching how hypocritical some adults can be in pushing a myth on children. I'm sure that event contributed to my decision some 8 years later, to view the world as an Atheist.

No. I don't think a church would baptize without parental consent. Unless, of course, there is a legal guardian involved beside you, if you are guardian. Otherwise, you cannot do anything about it.

In order to do this they must touch the child without the parents/guardians permission. That means a charge of assault on a minor.
