Strong abs are just part of the answer. Strong legs and explosiveness are another important part.
Advice: Walk a two or three city blocks on your toes like in ballet, run 10 flights of stairs - two stairs at a time - up and down. (Not all at once - take a break betwen flights of 30 seconds to catch your breath) Work on exploding up the stairs and bounding down the stairs.
Dance on your toes to your favorite music for 30-45 minutes per day. Run 50-yard Sprints but focus on an explosive start and takeoff;
go to the gym and do 10 sets of 10 reps each of squats with 60-100 lbs (ask one of the gym trainers to help you) and build up to 300-400 pounds over one year;
Run in place for 5-10 minutes a day - be sure to keep your knees high over your abdomen.
Imagine sitting on a chair. Now go to a wall and sit on the wall with your back straight against the wall, legs in a 'L'-shape and your hands in front of you. Try it for three-5 minutes at a time! Do 5 sets.
Go to a good machine workout gym with good modern equipment and ask a trainer there to show you how to use the machine that works the back of your legs and that will help you jump higher and improve your explosiveness like a sprinter.
Practice flying jumps on the basketball court with a basketball by sprinting toward the basket and upon toe pushoff or takeoff, make sure you lift one knee is as high as your abdomen - then lift the other knee to match it, then hang on the rim with both hands before you straighten your legs down. Hang-time!
Ask your football coach about 'tire' drills.
If you can afford it, get a good 15- to 25 pound weight vest and perhaps 5 pound ankle weights and wear them all day - including during your workouts, dance routines and floor exercises.
Play a lot of ball - every chance you get. And stay away from sodas, cakes and breads. Drink water or power drinks, eat steaks - (not hamburgers), ham, and other kinds of protein. As you can tell, it's not going to happen in 1 or 2 months. Expect best results after 9 to 12 months of intensive workout schedule.
Good luck! It's hard work - no one is just gifted with the ability to jump high with explosiveness and authority.
It takes dedication and hard work. Keep your goal in mind and do at least one of the activities above at least once a day if you don't have a daily intensive workout routine. Play ball!

dont listen to these idiots...you dont need to buy anything to jump higher, all you need is stuff around your house...have you ever heard of plyometrics? look it up and try some of those exercises, you'll be suprised after just a few weeks of training...and yes, strong abs do help...if you go up weak, anyone can just knock you on your ***...you need your whole body to be strong.

No, what will help you jump higher is your legs, wear ankle weights and things like that all day and try jumping with them, you will build up your muscles and be able to jump really high.
