Not all men are. Some men really like independent women. Some men are insecured because they feel those independent women will not ask for their help and protection and also they will not be able to tell them what to do and control them.

Most men like to control their women and if the woman is independant, then the men feel insecure.
I on the other hand like a woman who can fend for herself, be as idependant as me, but still at the same time respect each other in all our daily activities and hobbies.
BTW - I couldn't care less if a woman makes more money than me - all the better for her and she probably deserves every penny she makes given the way men seem to rule the world.
I'm a man and am not afaid to give a woman credit for her accomplishments.
Have a great day and stay away from men who feel insecure around you.

I'm sorry... but make sure you are using the right words for the question. Men are not insecure about women that can do things for herself, Actually we men find it an extreeme turn on, because it means she can think and make intelligent decisions.... You are talking about boys, because they are the ones that get insecure about when a women can do things for herself. It's really sad, because some males never grow up, and some males grow up before they should... but either way... go and find yourself a man... because they will understand and find it attractive...

I don't know why you think men are insecure about women that can do things for herself? You sound to me like you are the one that is insecure. Because that is the type of men you are attracted to doesn't mean all men are like that! Face it, you are attracted to insecure men. Don't label us all by the actions of the one you got. My woman can do things for herself, and I'm not insecure about it, I'm happy I don't have to do everything. I think it is great that I have a woman that is smart, outgoing, and educated. She is an executive in a large (fortune 500) company, and I'm proud of her! You should be more careful about hanging labels on men, not all men are like yours.

Are you trying to say that men are insecure around women who can do things for themselves? Who don't ask the man to do them for her? Sweetheart, you've been hanging around with the wrong kind of man. I'm sure there are plenty of men in the world who love to see a woman strong, because that would leave them with more energy to get on with other important things in their lives.

Well not all men are like that .. you just have to find a good man that likes you for you and doesn't try and controll your every move. More and more men are shangeing how they think and now its ok for a woman to be independent there are even some men that like it to much and they get lazy and expect the woman to do things for them. jeje well good luck in life and love girl
take care

Hey, if a woman can do a good job, I'm all in favor of her doing it. If she insists on screwing up a task just to prove that "a woman can do things too", then I am, um, insecure, yes. I like the work to be done correctly, whether it is I or a woman who does it.

Wow! wfgrg must have some real issues to deal with. I'm a man and most of the men I know prefer women who can think. Air headed girls are only attractive in high school.

for centuries, it was the man that did the providing, building, safe guarding, etc and women were supposed to cook, clean and have children . . . in today's time, many of the roles (except having the baby) are reversed and men can't handle it . . . it is a ego buster for them that women can be just as good or even better and the things they are "supposed to do" . . . it won't change, so it just needs to be accepted
