well it's normal, spiders get a bad rap that's a normal thing all through out the centuries spiders are given this realm of mystery and danger... though there are poisonous ones and large species that can eat animals.. but they're not different than any other species.. frogs are the same... though many more like them..
you could have a phobia of spiders: arachnaphobia.
http://www.insecta-inspecta.com/culent/arach/ (whatch out there's a animated spider there.)
this is normal i know many folks who get violent when they see a spider and want to kill it.
but generally spiders are our friends.. they eat pests and help maintain the soil's integredy just like worms and other bugs that like to burrow in the dirt.
i like spiders myself... if i find them in my house i really try not to intimidate them ... i leave them alone if they're not in the way because most times they get those nasty buds that get into our ventilation or through the windows.. and our house is basically bug free and the spider gets their munchies... so both parties are happy.
there are things you can do.. while you're online learn about the spider and talk to those who are knowlegeable on spiders and the phobia.. so you'll be with someone who understands your dillema and how spiders are at the same time so it will be at least a learning experience.
spiders aren't bad.. matter of fact some are very cute like those tiny little jumping spiders so goofy and hop around like little poppers bouncing all over and scooting around busily.
spiders (most) don't harm you they're just really creepy looking.
:D
i hope you give yourself a chance to at least get more exposure to the spider it will not only give the spider a chance (in general) but help you relax a bit... it's not healthy being stressed out.. over anything!

I'm terrified of spiders, and I think I know why. Just watch them. They go from a complete standstill to full speed in a fraction of a second, and they move by pumping fluid into the cavities in their legs to extend and flex them. They're like little hydraulic machines, absolutely silent and so gentle in their actions that there might be a dozen on you at any second, ready to inject their poisons, but too light and stealthy for you to even notice. They're like tiny plastic-coated ninjas with way too many eyes that swing through the air and drip venom off the twin hypodermic needles attached to their faces. They're like... I have to stop typing now, my skin's crawling.

I feel the same way. Where I live, there are no poisonous spiders and I know they can't hurt me, but I can't help it. I've been bitten by ants before and I'm not even afraid of them! I'm pathetic.

Your afraid of spiders because you probably had someone you looked up to that was also afraid of them and it was impressioned on you, or you watched to many cartoons where the spider was the villain.

We all have our own little irrational fears. I am terrified, and you really have no idea how bad I can get, of roaches. And I live in southeast Texas. We have the flying roaches, the wood roaches, the water roaches, the German cockroaches....AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH. I cannot sleep without lights on, even though we exterminate and don't have any real problems, when we get heavy rains, they want to get out of the soup, too. sigh.....just accept it, dear one. Though I know I never will.

I don't see them as evil, just things that can bite me. things that I can't even feel are on me. I hate them too. My grown 28 year old son hates them too. He says if you wanna hear him scream like a girl just put a spider on him. I understand that concept. m

spiders aren't evil at all, they get rid of other insects. the reason why your afraid of them is a phobia that can be cured. you weren't taught about them when you were a child and that caused the fear for you to have.

arachnedphobia, you are scared of spiders because your brain tells you they're creepy and evil. It's probebly one of the most commen phobias around, no shame in that.

You have died of a spider bite in a former life. You have a case of arachnophobia...very common. My roommate goes nuts when he sees spiders, and he is a grown man...but, in his defense, he was bitten by a brown recluse and nearly died from it.

Because that is human instincts. People get scared of things that usually just bother them because they have no idea what they can do to you. Sometimes it's good to be afraid of them.

Because spiders suck and can kill you just by being in the same room. Death to all spiders!
