my stove wont heat up. the igniter lites but the gas oart wont..

Your problem is kmost likely the igniter. It probably has a crack in the ceramic element and needs to be replaced. The power to the plug at the back of the igniter should be checked for 110-120 Volts, and if that's present then the odds are it's the igniter itself. For some reason, after a period of time, occasionally the small burst of air moved by the ignition of the gas on the hot element, can cause it to crack. When it cracks it won't allow the proper electrical voltage to pass thru it to the oven safety valve so it will open. The igniters range in price from $30 - $75 depending on the make, model of unit you have. Anyone who is the least bit handy with basic tools could change one.

Something like that would make me nervous. Get a repair man to take a look, preferably before the stove goes Boom.

punch paperclip into gas holes on burner. lite by hand to see how flame looks. got gas turned on?
