from what i understand cold fusion is a theoretical method of attaining a controllable fusion reaction, am i right? but anyway are we ever going to have fusion power plants? would be the cheapest energy ever! (hydrogen fusing to helium is the base of a fusion reaction if i remember rightly?)

Whynotaskdon is a lazy pig who wanted a free 2 points. I think that cold fusion will work, but it will be very dangerous, have many health and enviromental hazards, and also be very expensive. The Sun does fuse hydrogen to helium, but think: It generates surface temperatures up to thousands of degrees farenheit. I hope that I helped!

Edit: Here is a Wikipedia link on an ITER

The original reports about "cold fusion" were supposed to be the results of an electrochemical reaction. Reproduction of the results was not successful. The reasons for this are conjecture at best. In general, electrochemical processes are often very dependent on the electrode surface (textures and the like). Many electrochemical processes are hard to reproduce because the electrode surfaces are difficult to reproduce.

Currently, the ITER is the best bet for Nuclear Fusion.

the technique grew to become into patented in 2001, yet further panel studeis by ability of the DOE pronounced the information offered from the unique "fulfillment tale" grew to become into of a laboratory interest nature. there grew to become into minimum yet measureable warmth. not something produced on a extensive scale for advertisement purposes. The gist of the subject isn't any one definitely knows the prinicipal mechanisms in contact while chilly fusion does take place. extra learn is mandatory.
