I guess that depends on what you consider to be the "best" kind of hockey? If you're old school, you'll like the punishing style of the Flames or Flyers. If you're a fan of the "new nhl" you'll think that the best teams are the Ottawa's, Anaheims and Sabres of the world.
Ask a Leafs fan, and he'll tell you that the Leafs are on the brink of a dynasty.
Basicaly, the casual NHL fan will tell you that his/her team will be the "best" team in the league.

The Hurricanes come into the year as the champs and should be a top ranked team and a cup contender. Here is my early top 10
1.) Carolina
2.) San Jose
3.) Ottawa
4.) Buffalo
5.) Anaheim
6.) Philadelphia
7.) Detroit
8.) Tampa Bay
9.)Colorado
10.) New Jersey

Buffalo Sabres- Young, Fast, Tough, Great goaltending, Chemistry,4 strong lines, Excellent special teams and everyone plays for eachother. If they stay healthy they win the cup.
