It's because it's the summertime, and alot of parents apparently don't want to pay for daycare, so they leave thier 9 & 10-year-olds home alone all day with no supervision. So, the 9-year-old gets lonely, wants someone to pay them some attention, so they go on the internet. They then try to impersonate some Disney Channel 'celebrity' to impress other 9-year-olds, or try to find a celebrity's phone number, because they would feel like hot stuff if they were friends with a celebrity. Why they are so naive, even at 9-11 years old, to think that a celebrity would want to give out thier phone number to some random person is anyone's guess. My daughter just turned 7, and even she knows that a real celebrity would'nt be on online looking for friends.
