I am not a one-dimensional being, and there is no way for any person, no matter how well they know me, to really know everything about me. Not a parent, a lover or even a best friend.
Anyone who cares so little about you as to say something like that - well, they don't love you, they are not your friend, and they do not have your best interests at heart. They're only trying to hurt you. Some may argue that they're saying that for your own good, but don't fall for that crap. No person who truly cares about you would ever seek to make you feel worthless. Don't ever forget that.
A reply isn't necessary. Just take the information they've just given you about themselves and their lack of feelings about you, and store it away for future reference. Be on guard around them if you can't totally remove them from your life, because anything they else they say to you will be about themselves, not you or your best interests. They are not your friend.

I don't know that I would say anything, but I would certainly make sure that I proved that person wrong! If someone tells you that you are good for nothing, the best revenge is to prove otherwise. If that means getting up and getting a job, or going back to school, or doing something different with your life. Do it!

U'll probably get upset and angry at them then believe them and be some sort of drop out and anti socialist - dont let them warp u into that sense of believe....your much better than that!!
Everobies got a story to tell and people who say that will have probably been told the same thing at some point in their life so its a bit hippocritical isnt it??

I would be deeply hurt, but all they would see is determination and my Irish temper. I would tell them that unlike them, I was not a rude, horrible person and I would get much further in this world than they ever would and I would set out to do it.

I always say ' well it takes one to know another one ' so they must be the same as me , to know that im good for nothing ;)
Either that, or tell them , that they just told ya, so you must be good for something, and they say ' what ' , and you say ' listening to people like you !! "
That will shut them up.
Otherwise, just ignore them .

I would be shocked. But my response would be different based on who said it.
A stranger? Who cares
My mother? Huge issues
My boss? Resume time

Say, "Okay.". Turn away, and pull the Flightplan move. Grab a fire extenguisher and smack them in the face!

I would tell them: "Thank you. At least I'm good for something, even if it's nothing."
