I line up the 4 seams at the ankle but how should you line up the waistband so that as the seams go up the leg, the inseams are still straight?

Fold in the waistband at the zipper, tuck the waistband in the seat until the pockets meet evenly. This should give you the effect you are looking for. I hope you can picture what I'm trying to convey, as it is hard to just explain without being able to actually show you. Good Luck.

good start...you line up the 4 seams...

•then you hold the jeans on the seams and while holding the seams at the bottom with your hand let the waste fall toward the ground they Will naturally fall pleated if sewn right and there's not fancy pleats.

•now while holding the seams/lower 2 leg seam area lay the waste on the ironing board.

•run your free open hand from waste down the outside of the jeans. once your free hand meets up with your seam holding hand the jeans should be folded/crease straight.
•you can let go of the lower cuff or seamed area.

•with your iron heat setting on cotton/steam start at the bottom front side press down the leg then do the backside.(pressing and lifting...not running the iron down the leg, or you'll get it out of alignment).

•Then press the back of the leg.

•Finally turn jeans over (hold bottom 4 seams again as you flip them) make sure they are still aliened then press front seam ...then back...

•Don’t forget to store the jeans lined up on a hanger to cool/until your wearing them.

•Hint: if your press them and they are100%cotton you shouldn't need to starch them just leave the iron on them long enough for the steam to press the seam into them however don't leave on too long could scorch them.

You line up the seams, then fold some of the waist band in to make the seams even. I wear a size 10 so I guess I fold about
an inch in,both sides.Thats by the zipper side.

once you line up the ankle seams, dangle the pants loosely . Hold against your body and smooth. Then lay out on ironing board. Line up waist line, and fold in , by zipper. Try to feel all layers up seams to see if they are on top of each other. Iron. Look to see if ironed seam is straight, If not, try adjusting , to straighten. and press again. It takes a lot of work, it just depends on how fussy you are.

Just feel the seams to make sure they are lined up before ironing. Then, spray some starch on them and press. Voila! A nice seam.

why would you want to press a seam into jeans? isn't that something you'd want to do with more structured pants like a work trouser?
