Microsoft XBox price only dropped when the Sony Playstation cut their unit price. So I expect that the XBox 360 will drop in price when the new Sony Playstation 3 arrives, and starts cutting their price to stay competitive.
Other then that, you'll have to wait for the next generation XBox to come out. The original XBox (which had a high price tag) has become very cheap to buy since the release of the 360 unit.

Microsoft have gone on record and said that the price will not drop this year, they are bringing out some new bundles when the PS3 is released but they wont drop the price.
Why drop it? They drop prices to compete with the others, but its still cheaper than the PS3 so why bother dropping?

I highly doubt it will lower its price this year, its already cheaper than the PS3 so there is no competition. But if the PS3 lowers its price tremendously it will lower its price as said above. BUT expect some bundles in the holiday season, buy one in the holidays.
