having just spoken to her , she admitted she said it .there was no apology, she was stunned that i found out .we have ended our friendship,she is not welcome at my house . no reason for it, just sheer ignorance, and ungratefullness.

Glad she knows where she stands...I had probs with mine...in the end I told her to leave my house..and never come back..until she knew how to conduct hereself properly...that was 13 yrs ago...and do I miss her??? NOOOOOO!!! lol Hubby takes the kids to see her...but at the end of the day...I don't visit.....and it's more her loss than mine!!!!!

I feel really lucky I get on so well with my in-laws.
I imagine monastic folk are at risk of becoming a bit Jekyll and Hyde. It's while they're fighting with their own demons that they can come bursting out. Your in-law may also be having difficulty reconciling her beliefs with her feelings. She might respond positively if you show that you are humble, not vengeful.
