Does anyone really believe that peace can be achieved through violence? Can this ever lead to a lasting peace? For instance, Israel is a country that is constantly fighting for its legitimacy as a nation-state and to earn acceptance from its neighbours...it chooses to seek this acceptance by way of pre-emptive strike every few years or so. If I wanted people to like me and embrace my prescence, I probably wouldn't choose to kill their children.

At least Israel has the balls to do what America seems incapable of doing, that is killing terrorists. There will be no peace in the Middle East (or the world, for that matter) until each and every terrorist is exterminated.
Stop being aggressively ignorant and stop believing that this culture is a victim of OURS. Radical Islamism today is nothing but a new form of Nazism.

Dear peacenik this war was not started by a pre-emptive strike by Israel. It was started by a pre-emptive strike by Hezbolla so at least attempt to be factual. The Islamic Fascist movement that opposes the west has shown that civilians are legitimate targets, and plays the western media rather well when their civilians are on the receiving end of a tank round or a missile. It is not about being factual as witnessed in Qana when 60 people dead turned out to be 28 but like their Nazi ancestors taught them it did look good on TV. Israel is going to continue this war until Israeli forces reach the Litani river and Hezbolla is attrited further to the point that the Army of Lebanon is stronger than Hezbolla. In order to have a Cease fire
both parties Israel and Lebanon need to arrive at points of Negotiation. Both sides are not at that point yet so the war will rage until Lebanon folds, and they will. It is imortant to have an agreement ready to be implemented so when Lebanon decides that it is time to negotitate the killing of children can stop. When you strap bombs on children to do an adults job there is something very wrong about that culture and that culture should be exterminated.

It is a good idea but only that. I think we are very naive to think a complete peace will ever be won (militarily or diplomatically) in the middle east. The issues and cultures are just to diverse and I'm not talking about just Israel and the Palestinians. IT seems that war is more the normal in the Middle East than the exception

Peace-making in the Middle East is a wonderful idea. The only problem is that it is also a futile one. Hatred is institutionalized by the terrorists and everytime Israel acts militarily, they probably give "birth" to more terrorists than they kill.
Also, suppose Israel were to lay down their arms at their feet - do you think Hezbollah would come hug and make nice? I think they would launch 10,000 rockets on that day. It sadly appears that the desire to make peace over there is a sign of weakness.

If they are trying to kill your children you have to do something. Israel is not targeting children. They are targeting the people who are shooting rockets and makeing the plans to attack Israel.
