Chlorine, and a stabalizer will help, however you should refil a pool like that every month.... as you will have live bacteria. Additionally there is a pool clarifier it is a liquid that will clear up the cloudiness and bring the big particles to the top to be skimmed off.

Test your water - or find out what pool supply store will test the water for free.
It's your filter system that should be your biggest tool. And a small automatic cleaner will do wonders for the debris and such.

Use chlorine or pool shock, just like a bigger pool.
