My first job was at a Pup N Taco fast food joint in Redondo Beach California. It was about 1978 and I just don't remember what I made. Around $2.50 I think.

$1.60 an hour, which was also the minimum wage at that time. My kids always ask, "Why did you even bother?" I have to tell them that then you could live on that amount. That was 1968. Gas was about .25 a gallon and rent was $50 a month for an average place.

You're telling on yourself. That's what min. wage was when I went to work. I remember finally landing a job that paid $450 a month. That paid for an apartment, a car, and fed my wife and myself and our first daughter, with enough left over to go to the movies now and then.

My 1st job was at a pay-lake for fishing, where people paid to fish in the lake, I made a salary of 50 bucks a week plus a bonus for every expensive rod and/or reel I sold. I was also in charge of killing snakes, which I probably would have done for free, I hate snakes.
