Monopoly - I used to cheat like mad at monopoly when I played my sisters. Well why not bring some reality into it - it is about capitalism isn't it?
Risk! - What a great game - could go on for days, and the arguments! I always had to be black and could never understand people who didn't believe in making treaties and ganging up on whoever was in the best position. I'm 40 now and I still fancy a game from time to time - minus the arguments!
Escape from Colditz - this was a classic! One player was the German commandant who controlled all the Guards. He had special cards he could collect and spring surprises like Roll Call -which brought all the 'prisoners' back to the central courtyard. If you had an evil streak you wanted to be the Commandant!
Top Trumps - not a board game but we'd spend hours playing. The best of all was Western Gunfighters. My little sister could never pronounce the names properly, so we ended up renaming all the characters to match her pronunciation. It was brilliant fun. Still got the same old battered pack! Now she's grown up she has an obsession with serial killers! I've got a dark sense of humour sometimes and jokingly suggested she make a set of top trump cards (shes pretty arty) based on Serial Killers - so she did! We had a few games! Not as good as Western Gunfighters though!

My brother and I always played Checkers, Monopoly and Battleship. I think Monopoly was my favorite, even if he usually beat me. I still say he cheated.

Sorry and Trouble because that's what we had laying around. Later on we got Scattergories, and that is my all-time favorite. Scabble was a big hit too. Now I really enjoy a good game of Trivial Pursuit. I will play Monopoly but I don't enjoy it - it takes too long and gets boring.

I liked LIFE & Monopoly best. Since I used to vacation in Atlantic City every year, Monopoly had a real connection.

Scrabble and Boggle were always fun, my whole family would play it all the time! Monopoly isn't very much fun for me though, because it lasts way too long...the last time I played it took 6 hours to finish the game. I also liked this card game called Milbournes (sp)? It was a card car racing game...sounds cheesy, but super fun!

Monopoly. We evolved our playing and dropped the rules and became cut throat wheelers and dealers. We also played Yatzee, if you consider that a board game. Other than that, we used to play Canasta, and Rummy (also using 2 decks). Not huge on board games once we outgrew Candy Land and Shutes and Ladders.
