Lets say i burn some videos onto a DVD±RW, then the next day i burn another video onto the same video. But it over wrote the previous video, how do i keep this from happening. I tried Create Multisession Disk, but when i did that, it did the same thing and it over wrote what i had already done. Is there a free DVD burner program that will not make this mistake. Also to let you know, when i placed the disk into the drive for the second time, it didn't even read that i had already previous data on the disk.

Also is there a free program that will put it into DVD Format.

Also just one more question, does buying a DVD±R prevent this, since data can't be over written, or will it over write it anyway, which can cause the videos to mess up.

You have to get disk that can't be over written. When you burn cd's they do a finishing bt if the disk itself is re-writable then it will be erased.

They kind I use is Imation CD-R OR mAXWELL cd-r

It's my understanding that if you're using a DVD or CD that is re-writeable, you have to burn everything in one session. You can go back to the DVD or CD and re-write it, but everything already on it will be erased. You can't burn, use, go back and add some more.

It's also my understanding that Multi-session just lets you burn the same "stuff" to more than one DVD or CD. You just pop the finished DVD or CD out of the burner, pop the new one in and it's ready to copy.

Once data is burned to a DVD or CD ±R (not RW) it's a one time burn. You can't erase and re-use like a ±RW and you can't go back to add more stuff.

It should have read previous data. I find Sonic's Roxio a good program for burning CD's or DVD's. It tells what you are doing or need to do better than a lot of others.
