We also call lawyers by the name of attorneys; we call teachers by the name of educators. For doctors, perhaps to separate those with PhDs, we call them physicians.

They are all right above. A psychiatrist dentist or a lawyer both have doctorates but are not PHYSICIANS. And it would be better to distinguish a true PHYSICIAN because then it confuses all these "Doctors" from what I term the "true Physician". And also my Uncle is also a Licensed Natural Healing Physician in his State of California. And some of the person's who practice Natural Healing (massage therapy, herbal remedies, acupuncture, wet/dry cell analysis, holistic healing and nutrition etc) do NOT have doctorates, in the States where they are licensed they have SCHOOLING but NOT a doctorate. And of course, there are those who do and they are also into Chiropractics and So are NOT PHYSICIANS either, natural or otherwise. it is a bit confusing but after all while you get used to it.
