I can remember 28 cents a gallon, from a price war that two stations across the street from each other were having when I was a kid. Not sure why it stuck in my head all these years, but it did.

12.9 back in the 1950's. There used to be "gas wars," gas stations would drop their prices to some really ridiculous prices.

I can remember gas being 59 cents a gallon for a while here, and I was 16 at the time and thought that was way to high

The lowest I remember is about $.25/gallon (give or take) back in the late sixties. I can remember scrounging for change with my friends and we could ride around for hours on our spare change. Seems like a lifetime ago. (wait a minute, it was!) When I think about it though, my first job paid about $.75 an hour and I thought I was rich.

(remember the free items you used to get with fill ups? Glasses, seem to come to mind)

Early seventies, 23 cents a gallon. Back then we used to reach in our pockets for a handfull of change to fill up the tank. Sure was nice.
