12.9 back in the 1950's. There used to be "gas wars," gas stations would drop their prices to some really ridiculous prices.

The lowest I remember is about $.25/gallon (give or take) back in the late sixties. I can remember scrounging for change with my friends and we could ride around for hours on our spare change. Seems like a lifetime ago. (wait a minute, it was!) When I think about it though, my first job paid about $.75 an hour and I thought I was rich.
(remember the free items you used to get with fill ups? Glasses, seem to come to mind)

Early seventies, 23 cents a gallon. Back then we used to reach in our pockets for a handfull of change to fill up the tank. Sure was nice.

I have a picture of my brother, taken in 1965, at a gas station where it was 18 cents.
