Well you will go in and the front attentant will tell you to go take your clothes off and leave your undergarments on (if you are only haveing the bikini done, you leave your bra and shirt on) In the apt. room.
When you make your appointment most salons will ask what you are having done (so they can book the time accordingly) Eg, are you having just your bikini done, or a bikini plus, or brazillion etc. under arm, leg.... So you should decide what you want done, before making an apt, ask some freinds where they go so you can go to a reputible place..... and you can take a person with you if you would prefer someone in the room with you (it is just like the docs almost) Ask the person you make the apt with how much growth you should have, some are different depending on technique.. i think it is 1/2 inch but i am not sure
they will leave you in the room to get settled and you will have a towel or sheet to cover yourself with while you wait.
Then the attendant will come in rub your skin with rubbing alcohol, and put powder over top to make sure only the hair is pulled out not the skin. they may ask you to hold your underwear to one side whil they do the process if needed.
After they pull a strip off they will rub it with ointment which usually stops the pain.....
I have heard there is an over the counter spray (from like Walmart) that you spray on 1/2 an hour before your apt and it dulls the sensitivity in that area for like an hour..... you could try it =)
It isnt too too bad, you will be pretty red not to be alarmed this will wear off, and remember you have to wax quite a few times before it stops growing back completley.
It isnt so bad..... just make sure you go to a salon rather than a do it yourself.. these are ok for legs, but it it TERRRRIBLY difficult to do your own bikini =)
Best of luck

The pain is overrated. Seriously.
The pain lasts for a second, doesn't linger at all (your skin is pretty resilient to pain). If you can get used to the pain of waxing your legs and underarm then you can definitely get used to this.
Hair has to be about 1cm (0.5 inch) in length. Make sure the beautician uses wax that will harden and NOT strip wax that they typically use on legs. Wax that hardens will get a better grip on the hair so it reduces the chances of the beautician having to re-wax the same area if the first try missed hair (and re-waxing the same area could cause bruising).
I think the BIGGER issue people have is being comfortable while naked from the waist down in front of someone else.
1. Try and be comfortable with the person doing the waxing.
2. You do not need any painkillers (unless you REALLY can't take ANY kind of pain). If you want, you can buy an anaesthetic cream from a pharmacy apply it just before you go for the waxing.
3. Beauticians are professionals and there is no reason for you to be paranoid about what they could possibly think of your body. They do this for a living. They're like dentists.
4. Stare at the ceiling during the waxing, do NOT look at what's going on down there.
Does it hurt: Yes, like a mother....but not for long :)
Is is worth it: Hell, yes!

ok well first of all The Therapist will not judge you in anyway just think they do this for a living and do it ever day yes there might be different options there are Noraml Bikini wax, Brasilion or a holywood but as you are a first timer go for the basic bikini. You have to wait for the full growth to be apparent so about 6 weeks after the last time you shaved the best thing to wear is loose clothing no tight clothing if you wear a thong that might be the best bet but if not its ok just wear normal Knickers. If in Doupt phone the salon or go in and ask for advice they will always want you to be sure of it and also make sure you get all the aftercare advice i.e no tight clothing, dnt touch the area, no viginal sprays, no hot baths or showers for 24hours unless tempered. If any more questions email me. vicky
Although SNAP! might be a Hairdresser Do NOT trim it down as if you ge there the Beauty therapists might tell you to come back in another few weeks let it grow for 6 weeks to make sure the hair is apperent if it needs trimming the therapist will do before waxing. Also it doesn't Matter if you have your period or not it makes no different but i would let the therapist know if you do as she would never expose you there would be no problem.

Do the salon workers judge their customers ie think it's ok for skinny people to go and not large? - i do not know about where you are but i have not seen nor heard any here judge people like that personally i think it is very rude
Are there different options? -sure..tell them what you want and they will do it for you :P
is it best to go natural for the first time and let them sort it out or do abit of home care first?- the home care first might not be a bad idea..if you are feeling self concious etc but remember when you go to a place to have this done this is just a persons job ... they are not going to think anything of it...if you ask someone who takes care of the elderly for a living they will tell you i see one naked body i can see them all :P and it is not a problem for them ( i have a freind that works with the elderly .. she is here at my house right now and told me to tell you these workers should not judge you because they do this all the time )
What's best to wear to an appointment? - anything really ..if you are nervous maybe just a pair of pants or shorts that you can slip out of eaisly :)
hope i helped :)

Leave it to grow first, the more there is for the wax to stick to the more efficient the waxing will be. Don't worry about your physique, they've seen it all before!
Wear BIG comfy cotton knickers and loose jogging bottoms because it will sting like mad if you wear tight fitting clothes for a day or so after your first appointment.
Whatever you do, DON'T try a home waxing kit until you've had it done by an expert a few times.
And don't worry if you swear, I can almost guarantee that you will!
Good luck!

You should let the person waxing your bikini line know that it is your first time having it done. I suggest trimming your hair before you go as it may pull when you are having it waxed. It doesn't matter what size you are, most people have it done these days. Start with having your bikini line done then if you want more then keep having it done then gradually have more done. I think an older person may be better, as they have more experience and they would have come across many people in your situation

First: make an appointment
Second: let them know that this is your first time
Third: wear a bikini under your clothes so when they let you take off your clothes you are ready for waxing.
Fourth: makes sure you ask the products they use. I uses Deplive at my Beauty Shop when we do the waxig. Have them explain step by step what they are going to do. A good waxer should give you all the step by step instruction she/he is going to perform.
Fifth: Before she starts make sure she perform by sanitizing her hand and the area that needed to be wax.
Last, make sure before you walk into a salon look around and see if the place are clean.

Do you have a hairdresser that you trust??? He or she should be able to offer a name of someone they know and trust. Once you get the name of that someone, go to their place of business and ask to be shown around and have them explain everything they will do, and what you will need to do to be prepared. Does it hurt??? It stings, just like when they wax your eyebrows, but in a little more delicate area.
The salon you choose to go to will answer all of your questions and believe me you will not be the first one to ask, everyone has their first time going and questions, but ask your hairdresser who they would suggest. Your hairdresser learned the technique of waxing as well I am sure, but they may know someone who they trust to send you too.
Do salon workers judge people??? Honey, i am sure they judge everyone that goes in, but who cares what they think? You are a paying customer. I would wear something loose fitting, because once you are done, you will be sensitive. Leave yourself alone and let them fix it up. You are not the first person they have seen, nor are you the first person to walk in never having it done before.
DO NOT wax the day of or before going to the beach or something you will be a bit red.
Good luck!!!

If YOU feel comfortable enough to wear a bikini then go for it. There's no reason why you shouldn't if you want to. Everyone has a right to wear whatever you like, being "chubby" doesn't mean you can't wear a bikini. If you want to wear a bikini but don't feel too confident then wear a a cover up, whether it be a whole piece cover up or just for your bottom.

when you make your appt i would let them know that it's your first time waxing....if your hair is long you may want to trim it down a bit first...the perfect length of the hair is after it's grown out 3 wks after shaving....if you are unsure you can ask when you make your appt if they want you to do anything before you come in....i would suggest you get a traditional bikini wax the first time as opposed to a brazilian wax....if the person doing the waxing is professional they shouldn't be judging you for how you look...and if they are experienced, they've seen it all anyways.....you usually have an option of leaving your underwear on or taking them off during waxing...if you want to leave them on i suggest you wear some that expose the areas you want waxed, and wear old ones that you don't mind getting ruined if they happen to get wax on them....don't get it done immediately before or after your period as the skin is most sensitive at that time....good luck
