Yes ... by the way, not that I want to be a moo or anything, but did you know that 'the' doesn't EVER go before 'a' in a normal sentence like this?
'The a' ... it's just WRONG...! (Unless you are saying "The 'a' is the first letter that springs to mind when I think about the alphabet." or something similar... but even then it would be better without the 'the'!)

Typing "alot" saves a sec. One doesn't have to press the space bar.

`A` is an article used b4 the word lot thats all i,e., it is a lot n generally pronounced as alot

a lot means many.
"I have a lot of questions" = "I have many questions"
Allot means to parcel out or distribute, to assign as a portion
"I will allot 20 minutes for your presentation" = "I will give 20 minutes for your presentation"
