I do this quite a bit - i know i shouldn't but i am sort of addicted! DO i need to stop, and if so - how do i do it! There are no nicotine patches for this i bet!

You made the analogy with smoking and addictions. They too require discipline. Every time you begin to weave your fingers together, ask yourself if you really want to do this?

It is bad for you, in the long run it could cause arthritis.
Try putting a pound/dollar (whatever you currency is) in a jar every time you do it. I'm willing to bet that if it costs you money then you'll soon stop.

I do not know if it actually does any harm but it is very annoying. If you want to know if it is harmful you better see a doctor and ask their advice about repetitive behaviour.
