yes too early to work out. let his muscles develop first. most important is to play play play. he'll have fun and WANT to be athletilc, get a ball. roll it throw it, get a "tee" and a big fat baseball bat (plastic ) (little tykes makes them) when my boy was same age, (1 1/2) all he wanted to do was "play bay- baw" (base ball) I would go out at 6 am and catch as he hit off the tee, mug of coffee in one hand. as he gets older, ride bikes togetherr, play ball together, he'll want your attention so will respond if you are upbeat andpositive with him. today my boy is 8 and his dad, my husband just died (cancer) and he wants to do all the athletic things he and dad did together before, because dad (and me too :-) made it fun and about being together.. he's the most popular boy on his teams and the best player, and best sportsman because early on we made it about family time and fun first, and athletics second. the athletics then just came naturally! good luck, and ENJOY your boy, life is short, (sometimes much shorter than we think, in MY experience :-(

Just work on his hand eye coordination at this age. Roll a ball back and forth to him. Don't be one of those crazy parents. That will just make your kid whack. Look what happened to Todd Marinovich (aka Todd Marijuanavich). He went off the deep end once he got a pro contract since his dad messed him up so much when he was a kid! Let your kid decide if he wants to play sports, don't force him.

My son climbs runs jumps and does arm lifts while playing. Your child is developing and growing being beefed up may be too much stress on his growing body. Speak to his doctor about the work out age. I think play equipment for his age should develop him just fine.

definitely too early to start, what you can do now is provide him all the proper nutrition necessary for health and growth to become an athletic at the right age.

what me and my brother do to my nephew is at first we layed him on his back and peddled his legs like he was on a bicycle and that streangthed his legs then when he learned to walk we ran from him( in a playfulway) and soon after that he was also running and now he runs every where. and is now about 1 and a month.
