it isn't the same as 'synonym'. a thesaurus is a synonym finder. to be precise, it's a book containing a classified list of synonyms. i think there isn't a synonym for the word 'thesaurus' :)

Thesaurus doesnt have another name but it is a book containing lists of words which have the same, similar or a related meaning!

There are actually two meanings of "thesaurus" so you'd probably want a different syonym for each.

For meaning #1 -"a book of synonyms..."

"Roget's"
(If "Webster's" can serve as a synonym for dictionary.. that certainly ought to do it for thesaurus.)

Or coin a word: "synonymary" ?

For meaning #2 - "a book of selected words or concepts, such as a specialized vocabulary of a particular field"

"lexicon"
that is, "a stock of terms used in a particular profession, subject, or style"
