Nacl is a component of the lysis buffer which for DNA extraction has the following components (100mM Nacl, 10mM Tris-HCL pH 8.0, and 0.5% SDS) was added to the cells along with 3µl RNase (10mg/ml), and 6 µl Proteinase K (20mg/ml). Proteinase K is not used fro protein extractions, as it degrades proteins. Lysis buffer breaks the cell membrane releasing the DNA

nacl is comeposed of Na+ and cl-,,DNa being negatively charged is bound to Na+ and thus this helpd in precipitation of DNA.whereas the other debriis are in the supernatent..
