If you have a BT point already uncrew the 2 screws and gently lift open, look at the wires , white with blue stripe , orange with white stripe, etc;...right it down , get your new point and find a very thin knife, put the point to new place eg; bedroom kitchen, by over the amount cable and tacks white head cable clips, for bends, ups and downs, screw it, drill in wall, and you have your new extentionpoint. good luck. I'm a women done lots for freinds years ago. now living in spain.

the hardest part of fitting a phone socket is usually running the cable ,so take your time with this and workout the shortest ,or neatest route for the cable to run .
the next part depends which type of socket you already have installed you can run your new socket from any existing socket ,if it is a newer style bt / ntl type master socket the front should be split into 2 halves when you undo the 2 screws in the front the bottom half will pull off .
when you have done that look at the back of the plate ,if you already have extention sockets fitted you will find wires conected to the back of it ,if so you just need to connect your wires on top of the existing ones ,if not you just need to conect your new wires following the colour code which is blue with white stripe to number 2 ,white with blue stripe to number 5 and orange with white stripe to number 3 ,any other wires / colours are spare you wont need to conect them.
if on the other hand you are running from either an existing extention point or an old style master socket just conect your new wires on top of the old ones making sure to use the same colour to number at both ends .
the wires should just press into the slots on the sockets with either the tool supplied with the extention kit or the back of a thin bladed kitchen knife (dont remove the coloured insulation from the wires though as the socket will make the conection through it for you)
sorry its long winded ,hope it's some help.

Dont bother! Buy a cordless phone with 2 (or more) handsets. 1 will be the "base station" the other will be the "extension".
