Buy a shop manual and perform a charging system test.

Bad battery
Bad stator
Flywheel loose
Bad regulator/rectifier
Loose battery terminals
Charging system components not making a good connection to the wire harness.
Battery negative cable not grounded to engine/frame.

Probably the alternator is bad or the 'drive belt' is loose or completely broken.
If you haven't driven it at night ( using headlights, etc. ) you'll find
really quick if the alternator is charging. Also, if it isn't charging, you should have a 'charge' light on the dash cluster of instruments which will be flashing or or staying "ON", or a gauge that shows you if you're charging or discharging or both depending on what kind of car it is.

Check the system. If the alternator is putting out sufficient voltage, replace the battery. If it isn't, replace the alternator. Or maybe there is just a wire that came disconnected, did you look?

these guys are idiots. bikes dont have an alternator, they utilize a magneto system. youre gonna have to take it in to a shop unless you are a proficient mech...but youre asking this question, so just take it to the shop
