He's dead. He created great music while he lived. The circumstances of his death were tragic and a blight on those who surrounded him and let him implode. I think some of his earlier music is far more sincere and shows pure talent. Some of his later work was far too commercial and canned to be appreciated as pure talent. His voice, an acoustical guitar, and a backup group cannot be beaten by most other musicians of today. I am a fan, now and always.

Elvis.......... when he was younger before he became famous was more or like the rest of us.... just trying to get through life.
He drove a truck and lived at home......... his family were poor people. He loved music and played in school programs.
He formed a band and they knocked around for awhile. He finally got a break when a promoter heard him sing.
He became the World best and known singer. His songs still make millions of dollars each year...... although he has been deceased for over 30 years.

He was definitely one of the major fathers of rock & roll and some of his songs were really good but I never got into the "Elvis on a pedestal thing" Can't see spending my vacations visiting Graceland or anything like that.
