c'mon people...fastest man....that bob hayes guy that the other answerer talked about..justin gatlin was doping i think...so that leaves asafa powell for the 100 meter, michael johnson for the 200 and 400, kipketer for the 800 meter, and hicham el gerroug for the mile. ( i think the record is like 3:40???)

Robert "Bob" Hayes was recorded moving faster than any other human being ever during the 4*100m relay of Tokyo Olympics of 1964. He has since died. What was more amazing he was running on a cinder track. That was his last race. He also won the Superbowl - making him the best all-round athelte sportsman of all time. In my book anyway.
