All depends on injury. If Wakefield and Foulke can come back and if Sheffield and Matsui return by Sept 1 I give the edge to the Sox. If things remain as they are, I give the edge to the Yanks. Sheffield will cause clubhouse turmoil when he returns. He is on his way out in NY and out of spite will sign a below market contract to play for the sox next year to stick it to george!

But both will make the playoffs!!! sox v tigers, yanks v laa

Although I'm not a fan of the Yankees and Mr. Steinbrenner, I think this year the Yankees will top the Red Sox. The lineup top to bottom is better offensively and yes Johnny Damon is a big key to that. I also doubt the Red Sox starting pitching will hold up down the stretch. I'd prefer to see the Red Sox on top, but think the Yankees will score too many runs game after game to lose enough to come in second.

Yankees. I mean come on the Red Sox blew a 6 1/2 game lead. The Yankees are having a horrible season and have been playing with reserves all year. I mean where is Matsui and Sheffield?

Yankees win the AL East but lose to the White Sox in the first round. Boston watches on TV.

Yankees, because they have all the guys to make it to the World Series this year. For example, Derek Jeter, A-Rod, Bobby Abreu, Jorge Posada, Robinson Cano, Bernie Williams, Johnny Damon, Melky Cabrera, Sal Fasano, Cory Lidle, Mariano Rivera, Chen-Ming Wang, Mike Mussina, Jason Giambi, Craig Wilson, Kyle Farnsworth, Ron Villone, Mike Myers, Scott Proctor etc.

i'm a yankee fan a red sox hater.. but more importantly ,as a baseball fan , student of the game.. i had to give boston its "props" for comming from 3 games back [ ps joe torre , a great manager has to take the weight for that ,for mis-managing game 3 [?] not using subs and letting his players get tired... they were exhaudted for the last 3 games of the series] anyway... whoever stays healthy will take it all in the east and go no further.
