Since it's not a comment to be interpreted literally. No side at all.
It simply means that ever since they woke up, things haven't been going right.

I've only heard of getting out of the wrong side of the bed. This is probably the side by the wall. The reason it puts you in a bad mood is because you start the day with a bump on the head.

Normally they say "I got out of bed on the wrong side."
This really just means that their day got off to a bad start, and didn't improve!
In reality, getting out of bed on the wrong side could mean several things ...
you hit the wall ...
you fell on the floor ...
because there's no wall and your bed is on the edge of a CLIFF, you fell over the edge!

The side against the wall... sailors used to share "bunks", and waking up against the wall meant someone was in bed with you which would make anyone in a foul mood...both the person waking up, and the one who HAS to be woken up so he can get out.

i always saw "the side of the bed" as your attitude
you can wake up every morning and think, ok, this is a new day and I'm going to make the best of it
or you can wake up and be like i hate my alarm clock i have so much to do man i just want to crawl back into bed

If you were a Roman it was the left side (at that point in history there was still a lot of superstition regardign left handedness, which is why even in the Middle Ages left was called "sinister" in coats of arms)

That would be the side that you get up on, and everything goes wrong, your in a pissy mood, and people are acting weird around you.
