The floor of a 5-mile long building is perfectly level at every point from one end to the other.

A string is stretched taut between the floor ends, and it touches the floor midways.

What is the relative position of the string ends to the floor?

(Assume no catenary, and I am not looking for a number.....just a subjective answer.)

The ends of the string are slightly above the floor because a perfectly level but very long (poured concrete?) floor would exhibit the curvature of the earth. Very large construction projects must take this into consideration.

Uh? Catenary?
The string ends rest atop the floor?
Is this your hobby or something?
