My sister was cleaning a room for a woman. The room was closed off and had a build up of cat feces and urine. They did not have any windows open because the air conditiong was on. She forgot to wear a mask. After she had been in there for about 20 minutes she started feeling nauseated. She went to ask the woman for a glass of juice or milk, and went into a seizure. There is no epilepsy in our family. The hospital took tests and could not find anything. Could the build up of ammonia and lack of fresh air to her lungs cause the seizure?

The seizure could be the result of a vaso-vagal reaction. Some people that faint because of something like the sight of blood or being grossed out as in your sister's case may faint and a certain percent of them have a seizure as part of the episode. I've witnessed quite a few of these reactions at blood drives.

Yes, It may have. But think, if there was a "build up of cat feces and urine", what else was in there? Mold, dust mites, spoiled food, who knows what. She shouldn't clean for this woman again without a mask, gloves, and open windows!

Wow, the amonia from the urine alone would make a person pass out!

yes, it could, especially if she was using bleach to clean the room. Bleach and ammonia mixed together produces cyanide.

Yes. The bleach vapor would also add to the chemical reactions.
This is less rare than you think.
