Let's see if I'm thinking right... that is a 1.9L motor and the starter is difficult because of its location on back of the motor. First write down the radio stations remove negative battery terminal I think the right axle has to be removed to get the starter past other than that the process is un bolt two holding bolts to the bell housing and if equip remove bracket to engine block bolt on back of the starter one plug in wire one bolted on battery wire. Wobble sockets and a couple good jack stands and jack capable of lifting the ft end of the car to chest height. To remove the axle remove the cotter pin loosen the large 2 1/4 inch axle nut approx 1/2 inch nut flush with the axle threads lube with penetrating oil and with a sledge hammer tap on the axle see if it moves. remove rim right side and unbolt the two strut bolts above the brake rotor. thus allows you enough room to pull the axle out of the steering knuckle rotor assembly Then have some one hold outward pressure and catch the axle as you pry or tap the inner joint out of the transmission. Keep a drain pan handy to catch oil manual and ATF automatic replace any fluid lost during the process This axle should click back in with a sharp thrust of the axle easier with some one under holding the inner joint lined up with the hole in the transmission.

This is not a fun job as the starter is towards the firewall on the back side of the engine. Put the car on ramps or jack stands. Remove the air cleaner and disconnect the negative battery cable. The starter is held to to the engine with three bolts. One is accessible from the top of the motor and the other two from under the car. Disconnect the wires from the starter and remove it by lifting it up through the engine compartment (it won't fit under the car) Hope this helps.
