No, the matches are predetermined.

Sheesh... people here are really passionate about this one...

When the matches are planned (yes, they're planned) It goes something like this: One will say that they wants to punch you, sidewalk slam you, and jump kick you. You say that you'll put them in a leg lock, punch them, and ,since you're supposed to win, will push them into the ref and give them a chair shot.

Then they'd do it. The punches are real, the kicks will lay you out, and the chair shots hurt like nothing else. The wrestlers mostly get ideas in the ring as well, and sometimes they even tell each other what to do in the ring. Sometimes, opponents hate each other in real life and it moves into the ring, but those times are rare and pretty well documented in wrestler's books and commentaries.

I'd say the matches are 80% real, their downfall is that the winner is predetermined.

for cryin out loud...People who say that Pro Wrestling is all fake have clearly never been in the ring. Soap operas are predetermined and not one complains about them... I will give you that the ending is predetermined and SOME spots are chorographed...but, the wrestlers do hit each other only in spots that they know that the other guy can take it.

Chairshots are real...chokeslams do knock the wind out of you. Pro Wrestling is a very athletic sport. You must go to school for a long time in order to know how to do this sport properly. My Answer to this question is this...

Pro Wrestling is Sports ENTERTAINMENT it is there for people to suspend reality and to enjoy. If you think it is all fake...get in the ring and try to fake it. You will learn real quick that it isnt.

99.9% are fake, but every now and then there are matches between two wrestlers that truly hate each other. These matches quickly become real fights or "shoots". Big Poppa Pump hated Goldberg and quickly beat him up and left him bloody in a WCW match. Back when Sting was just starting out he was attacked by Terry Taylor in an unscripted fight that left Sting bleeding from a huge gash in his head. The last one I saw was the infamous match between Bret Hart and HBK where Vince had HBK screw Bret out of the title and then Bret spit in Vince's face on live TV. It was widely rumored that When Big Poppa Pump came to WWE he hated Triple H and was fired for threatening to assault him backstage.

Of course they're not real. They're stage managed, choreographed and fixed. I find it pretty poor when compared to genuine wrestling which you rarely see on TV because it is boring. Real wrestling is very much like areal contest but the wrestlers are not necessarily giant muscle bound pansies with fancy costumes and coiffured hair. Neither do they parade around to fanfares of music and shout at the crowd. WWE is, in my opinion, a pathetic sham designed for the baying pack of idiots who watch it. Watch real wrestling on the next Olympics for a comparison.

The fighting is real, trust me! UMMMM the whos gonna win is sometimes planned. Before the match the 2 super stars get together and they tell each other which moves they want to do in the match before its over but they almost never decide whos gonna win the match!

No it's all predetermined and planned out beforehand. However, once in a while a wrestler does suffer a real injury.
