well actually they are a militant faction of the CIA
think about a few facts if you will
1 who trained and funded Bin Ladens organisation
2 How come the CIA still uses a certain bank from the Saudi Bin Laden group(oficially owned by his brothers but it's his money)
to make large international transactions
3 on 9/11 all planes were immediatly grounded: all except one from Bin Ladens brother
4 In 2001 Bush promised to freeze all assets of Bin Laden. 5 years later most of these are still happily owned by Bin Laden and a lot of his money is sittin in us accounts.
5 We know that the CIA could have prevented 9/11 and still they chose to do nothing.
Now you go put 1 and 1 together.

So what about "Taliban" then? Or other "splinter networks"?
Definition of Al-Qaida:
"A terrorist network intensely opposed to the United States that dispenses money and logistical support and training to a wide variety of radical Islamic terrorist groups; has cells in more than 50 countries"
They don't sound like a "front" to me, though certain militaries may exploit there activities or lack thereof! :(

Too few, they accept the rubbish that the mainstream media perpetuates. If the USA was interested in capturing terrorists, why is Gitmo full of ordinary people who wouldn't know one end of a gun from the other?

Could well be. It seems likely that Afghanistan was invaded to bring about political stability so that an oil pipeline could be built to take oil from the Caspian Sea.
