An ant that finds a food source makes its way make to the nest leaving a trail of "scent" that all the other ants can follow to get to whatever tasty treat the first ant found. So they move in a 'queue' because they are following a "stinky highway"!
Great question.
(You should start an ant farm, it's fun!)

They don't actually. They move by smell and feel. It is us humans that call it a queue. the ants have no idea.

Ants are blind creatures.
It would hard for them to get back to their home if they do not follow each other.
