You're getting some wrong answers. The most formal evening ensemble for men is a tailcoat with matching trousers worn with white wing collar shirt, white bowtie and white waistcoat(improperly called "vest" by many). On the feet are patent leather opera pumps with silk bows. On the head is a silk tophat or opera hat (collapsible tophat). One wears white gloves and may carry a black cane with white tips at each end. In cool weather, wear a Chesterfield coat. In the 1880's the dinner jacket was introduced as a less formal alternative. It's cut much like the business sack suit, but it has glossy silk lapels and usually one button front. The first ones had shawl collars, but later ones have peak lapels or notch lapels. A black bowtie and a white waistcoat were first worn. Later, black waistcoats and cummerbunds appeared. This ensemble was popularized at Tuxedo Park in New Jersey, so the dinner jacket is called a tuxedo. It does not have tails. In the 1960's, other colors besides black or midnight blue or white (in summer) appeared, and bowties and cummerbunds were in wild colors and patterns. Celebrities often lack taste, so one may see them wearing tuxes improperly at awards shows. Some men's magazines show improper ensembles too. Why bother with a dinner jacket, if one wears a 4-in-hand tie, torn blue jeans and tennis shoes with it? A business suit has no silk on its lapels or on the sides of the pants. It usually has more than one button on the front. One wears a 4-in-hand long tie with it. A few men wear bowties, but that is eccentic. It may or may not have a matching waistcoat.

The difference is that a tux is formal and is usually black, whereas a suit could be any colour.
The distinction is basically historical. In the early 1900s wealthy gentlemen would wear a 'morning suit' during the day and change into a 'dinner suit' for the evening. Semi-formal dinners required a wearing a black tie and very formal occasions demanded a white tie.
The morning suit evolved into the modern business suit, although some people still wear traditional morning suits for weddings, and the dinner suit became the tuxedo.

I think tuxedo has a bow tie in the front on the top and suit has a necktie. A tuxedo also has a sash in the front tied somewhere like a band on the waist..across the waist,I think. This is inside, before u wear on the coat-over the shirt. Tuxedos are worn to parties, fancy dinners etc, never to business meetings. But suits can be worn to both business meetings and parties, but not always in parties(maybe sometimes, yes!). Mostly only at business meetings.

a suit is simply a garment consisting of two or three coordinating pieces that are worn together. a tuxedo is a formal suit, usually black, worn after 6:00 p.m. for occasions that do not necessitate a white tie. its lapels are overlayed with silk and it has coordinated silk bands on the outside seams of the trousers. it is traditionally worn with a starched white shirt, kerchief, black tie and either a grey waistcoat or a black cummerbund. nowadays you'll also find ties and cummerbunds in other colours but they always have to coordinate.

A tux has a tail, uses a bowtie and is more appropriate to wear during formal gatherings. A suit can be worn during work and uses a tie
