I had the same problem when we lost the DVD remote. The universal remotes don't have every feature the original has. I bought a newo ne for like $15 including shipping from www.partstore.com. Brand new and works perfectly. And they were 1/2 price from the manufacturer for the same remote.

As others have said, you can buy a universal remote (which you then configure to your television by pressing certain buttons according to the instructions in the brochure (and online, usually))
But your DVD and/or VCR remote may well have a television-control feature. Look at the top rows of buttons: is there a TV button? If so, you can configure that the same as a universal control.

No, you should be able to buy a universal remote control. Write down the name and brand number of your tv/dvd/vcr and go into somewhere like argos or comet to buy a universal remote control that is compatable with your equipment.

Joking? Of course you need a new TV, in fact buy two more TV's, same model, then you will have two remotes and three TV's. Just in case, you lose a TV. LOL
Seriously, get a universal remote.

Either buy a new universal remote, or get a uneversal remote that is also a watch, and that may stop you losing it again.
