Don't gargle salt, I think that agitates it. Gargle with baking soda. Don't drink too much OJ because you'll have potassium over load. Have some peppermint tea and drink lots of water in general, especially warm stuff. Get some cough drops, the kind that tastes bad, they're the ones that work. And give it time, it's not going to go away just like that.

Do you have any garlic tablets to take. Take 2 or 3. Eat onions on a sandwich. Alot of onions. They kill germs. Keep drinking oj and lots of water and other fluids to flush out your system. Take Advil or Tylenol--the recommended dosage. Try gargling with vinegar and water--half and half. Rest and take it easy on yourself. Drink hot tea--any kind--with some honey in it. If you start to run a fever or it hurts for more than a day or two you better go to the dr. and have them bill you. You might have strep throat. Get well soon!

There are clinics that base what you pay on your income, take a paycheck stub with you. If you have a serious infection, and end up in the hospital, the cost will be a lot worse than some antibiotics and a wlk in visit to a clinic. With the nasty germs going around now, it would be wise to simply pay the $20 and get some meds. Hope you feel better soon.

Gargle warm salt water for about 30 seconds and then spit. Do that about 3-5 times a day and it should help.

If it hurts this bad and it came on suddenly (within a day), you are at risk of having strep throat. For that, you want to get to the doctor ASAP. The complications of strep throat are long lasting and much more expensive!
