well, you'd be referring to the african wild cat there, the ancestor of the house cat. its natural habitat is open, arid country like savannahs and deserts. there are countless other species of cats, though, whose natural habitats are as diverse as they are. the european wild cat for instance is a forest dweller.

Many different cats have adopted to different environments, but the ancestral cats to the house cat are believed to be small african wild cats from in or near egypt. These would have been desert animals.
My house cats love to be hot, not warm but hot. I can find them in the warmest part of the house in the summer laying in the sun!

They like high rests like trees. Their bodies are made for heights. I saw a documentary on cats and when they fall from a tree, their legs fan out and act parachute-like decreasing their speed. Other than that, I do not know. I don't understand why they are tropical animals when they have fur coats.
