The first step is to stop the illegals from coming in. This means securing our borders and monitoring / tracking visa holders. If their visa expires and they have not left the country, Immigrations should immediately issue a federal arrest warrant. Airlines can also be required to inform Immigrations when a visa holder misses their scheduled flight out of the country.
Landlords need to check for the legality of their renters. Landlords renting to illegals should be fined, as are the people/companies that hire them.
Any illegal that is legitimately stopped by any law enforcement and found to be illegal needs to be turned over to Immigrations for deportation.
For the rest of the illegals, the government will most likely want to give them amnesty.
I needs to be a CONDITIONAL amnesty given to all the illegals here now. (Assuming we are stopping more from coming in). The conditions ...
They must learn basic English.
They must learn some American history and culture.
They must be financially dependent, i.e., either employed or have a financial sponsor.
They must swear their allegiance to America and be signed up for the draft. (Within the draft eligibility guidelines)
They must do this within a time frame, such as 1 year. If they don't, or at least show effort after the time frame, they will be deported.
They will have a felony conviction on their records. They can never own a gun or vote, even if granted citizenship.

Quit playing around and get a wall built. Once we stop or at lease lessen the flow of people, then we can affort to worry about the ones that are already here, but if we don't get the wall up even if we deport them they just come right back. There was a story in the news about a guy who was driving like a maniac on the freeway and killed some people. He had been deported 19 times already.

Lots more border guards and efforts to improve conditions in the countries where the immigrants come from.
Let face it, most try and get into the USA to improve the quality of their lives by living in a 1st World country.
They are chasing the big $$$

Well when the cops pull someone over who they find out is an illegal, deport their butt. The government finds these people all the time but they just let them go or put them through a process that allows easy escape. In Ct we found an illegal but instead of shipping his sorry butt back to Mexico the state of CT is going to put him through college for FREE. And he never paid taxes!
Gosh, I wish my college education was free.

If there was an easy answer, it would have been done by now. We can't send them all back - it's physically impossible. We can't immunize them because that would tell the world that it's ok. I say send as many back as possible, or at least make them take the citizenship test; tax the living be-jesus out of them; make an example of the ones that don't comply.

oJail their employers and deport all illegals. Confiscate all properties of the business and of the illegals and auction them for financial assistance to keep the ball rolling! If you would take the property of an illegal they have in most cases enough value to pay for their deportation! Others have real value unough to pay for many! This thing could finance itself! We are selling American land and real estate to illegals! WTF! I say use it to send them home!

George Bush's only decent idea was the one about establishing "guest worker" status. But, it seems to have been all talk.
