I don't think we can -- at least not at this point in time. Too many zealots out there. And as for your self-righteous comment, lalulu, I am raising my children to be moral, kind, caring, and considerate to others. I do not consider it neglectful to raise them without brainwashing them with a bunch of religious b.s. In fact, I am doing them a huge favor. They won't be guilt-ridden and f*cked in the head when they're well into their 40's, like their mother....

As atheism is defined as a people disbelieving in a God or gods neither Stalin, the Nazis, or Mao would fall into this category.
The fact is that there have also been great charities put out by religious and non-religious organizations alike. There have been good and bad things done by both atheists and religions.
The thing about religion is it indoctrinates people in masses so there is a unified mindset. This can be a positive thing if the goal is to feed the poor and starving for example. I, personally, having grown up in the Southern Baptist religion, have seen this mindset unify people into aiding in the building of homes for those who could not afford it. On the flip side, I have also seen it used to justify prejudices, intolerance, and cruelty against other races or those who are attracted to the same gender and uniting to verbally (and sometimes physically) assault females as they enter abortion clinics (keep the baby but of course do not offer any viable alternative).
I have long abandoned religion. I stopped going to church as soon as I was away from my a parents and felt no obligation to go. I had actually questioned much of it long before then. A few years ago, if someone were to ask me what religion I am, I would just say I was raised as a Christian. Now I feel comfortable saying that I do not practice any religion and consider myself religion-free.
Nearly every major war ever fought had some religious basis. That being said, there have also been good things done in the name of religion as well.

Hey Jimmytheballs,
The total on your list is trumped massively by the crimes against humanity committed by religious zealots.
The Crusades
The Spanish Inquisition
The Holocaust (Yes, Hitler was a Catholic and he actually received regular birthday gifts from the Pope)
9/11
The list goes on. Religion is the root of all evil.

Atheism and secular-humanism ARE religions. One can never end religion because ALL world views are religious in nature, i.e., they all have some ultimate commitment to some metaphysic. The difference is that theism provides the preconditions for ethics, reason, volitions, and being, while atheism is irrational ands cannot provide the preconditions for rationality.

Religion preys on the young. If there was a minimum age requirement to be in an organized religion, most people would probably not join.

I think we will eventually, but it will take a long time to teach people to think for themselves. Besides that, a lot don't want to, they feel a religion is some sort of comfort.

religion is simply one person telling another person that he is on the wrong road to the same place. Get there any way you want, just get there!

Actually, you have done just that. You have removed religion from your world.
I'm a Christian, and I love Jesus. He has brought me personal joy and satisfaction.
What or who qualifies you to determine what ALL religions do? I definitely don't agree with a lot of religions, even yours. However, I dare not deny your right to practice what you believe.
You have not experienced all religions, so you sound asinine. Do you realize to accomplish what you are attempting, you would have to indoctrinate people and brainwash them to share your view?
Probably not!

well, I dont agree that its myth, I think that religion definately is a cause of war, but there is not much we can do about it, its always been that way and always will be. If you dont want to raise your children with faith in a higher power, thats your neglect, not mine.

How can we get rid of atheism and all the damage it has done to mankind?
Here are some famous atheists and thier achievments -
6 million Ukrainians slaughtered by Stalin
Tens of millions of other Soviet citizens killed by Stalin's Soviet
Union
6 million Jews murdered by the Nazis and their helpers
throughout Europe
60 million Chinese butchered by Mao
2 million Cambodians murdered by Pol Pot
millions starved to death and enslaved in North Korea
the million Tibetans killed by the Chinese
or the million-plus Afghans put to death by Brezhnev's Soviet Union
Imagine all the atheistic indoctrination for events like these to happen.
How can stop atheistic indocrination?
