The other day, some guy was walking across my front yard, I thought he was trying to break-in to my house, so I chased him down the street with a machete, (but he got away) and later I found out from my neighbour that he was the meter reader for the gas company, will he go to the cops and report me???????

report the incident to the cops yourself. this would give the cops a clear picture of what your intentions were when you chased the guy with a machete.

No.

Your biggest risk is that he will report you to the Hillbilly Family Code Violation Investigation Committee (HFCVIC) for not following the standard procedure in these cases, which is:

a. Take cover behind your truck;
b. Sneak up behind the intruder and throw a pair of dungarees over his head to confuse him;
c. Shoot him from close range with the shotgun;
d. After the body stops twitching, yell 'Hey, Billie Bob, I jus' plugged anuddaonerdemvarmints. YEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!';
e. Wash the dungarees.

If he were not wearing an obvious uniform, and did not identify him/herself even when being chased down the street, then I reckon you should be in the right. .....
Otherwise, you may be in deep ****. I would suggest hiding the machete for a few weeks.

LOOOOOOOOOOOL!!

Even if he did call the cops you could easily explain the situation and apologize for it.

I wonder, though...do ya think the guy will come back to read your meter or are you just not gonna get a bill anymore LOL!?!

I dont think he would report to cop. still call the gas company yourself and tell them what happened and how sorry you are for the misunderstandin. request them to send somebody again to complete his work.

Not likely. He probably has that happen more then you think...

But, next time you feel the need to chase someone off, use the water hose...

Why had you not called the cops? Then you could avoid the misunderstanding. I would call the police still.

I am not sure you holding a guns or a weapons when you approach him... cause, if the person really is the gas guy, then he will run, when you approach him.

However, if you holding a gun, even that person is a police, he will also run.
