Is Singapore's customer service comparable or worse than the UK/US/Australia? If you have lived/worked for a while in at least two of these countries - could you share with me? I haven't been to UK, US or Australia, but whenever I have an expatriate customer complain about my company, they'd rave about the high standards of their country's customer service.

It's not a question of standard, will just say that most expatriate can blend in with the culture, some not. Many can accept the ways things are in your country and there's some that just like to complain against the slightest differences. "back home, we do this" "In US, this is not acceptable etc ". This applies to travellers on vacation too. If you do want to enjoy your holidays, it's best to keep an open mind.

In US, waitress will demand tips. In Singapore, that's is a no no. It's just a matter of culture norm and behaviour.

Having lived in the UK, I can safely say that Singapore service standards are much better than those in the UK. Singapore is a very service-oriented country and, as such, Singapore has a service standard unmatched by most developed nations. Sure, there may be a few that always spoil the show, but generally speaking, service standards in Singapore are reasonably high and delivered promptly and efficiently!

Generally, I think all is the same...

I think to compare more effectively, we should compare it company over company. For example, is Dell in Singapore providing better customer service or Dell in US providing better customer service?

That way, it will reflect truely the nation mentality and the keen in serving the best to the customers.

Trust me, Singapore's customer service is far better than the mentioned countries and more. OUr service providers have professional service levels, are efficient and with great language skills.

The service in any indusrty in Australia is terrible, I think it's coz they don't have to rely on tips for their wage. They get paid the a good wage with holidays etc so they have no interest in giving good service. The US has far better service for the opposite reason.
