We had a friend video tape our wedding and it came out great. The only thing she didn't do was shoot the flower girls walking down the aisle. I would sit down with the bride and groom and ask them if there is anything that you need to know. Definitely make sure you get all of the events during the reception, if you're doing that, too. Like, the entrance of the bridal party, the toasts, the dances, the gartar and bouquet, and the cake. There may be other things they want taped, too. And if you're not familiar with the order of certain things, ask them that so that you can be prepared. Remember to have fun, too, and anything that you shoot is better than the bride spending $1,000 to have it done by a professional. Good luck!

get two or three cameras. If you cant afford to buy them then borrow DV cameras from friends or hire them.

I'd set one on a tripod facing the happy couple at a bit of an angle, focus on the bride.
Then have another at the far side of the church looking side on at the couple.
Use the third for handheld stuff.

Take plenty of footage as you will need an hours worth for 4 minutes of finished product.

EDIT well, use final cut if you can if not then apples imovie. Don't use windows movie maker. Buy or get a trial versoin of something better.

BUY a pressure zone mic, these are cheap as chips from tandy and the like, and it will mean you have much better sound quality thatn using the built in mic.

DO not zoom or pan unless you are very capable, it will look really bad.

Remeber the rule of thirds. eg if it is a shot of the bride and groom only then their heads should be in 1/3 of the way down the frame.

Better still, send me the film and I'll do it> lol

Its allot more difficult than it looks. i know a guy that does it for a living and I wouldn't employ him. It never turns out nicely. I also know a television camera man that shot a video for a friend on a standard digi cam. It looked really pants.
Experience, eye AND equipment all go together. We get to see well shot stuff on the telly every day....everyone's a critic. I hope the video is not for a close friend or there could be friction.

You should follow any professional. I think there is no second one without Jax Video. You can find professional videographer for wedding ceremonies, events and parties.

the perfect element is word of mouth. in case you had a customer that became into very happy with you, they're going to tell their buddies and so on. i became into mentioned to my wedding ceremony photographer with the aid of a chum and in turn have mentioned him to a pair of my buddies who're getting married. Do sturdy paintings at a actual looking cost and your call gets available. perfect of success!

Don't even think about - you could ruin somebody's big day. If you are selfish and daft enough to try - make sure you get insurance - because I, for one, would sue the a## of you if you pulled that stunt on me.

Do a hollywood. - Watch someone elses and rip it off!

Don't forget camera, tripod, batteries, more batteries, even more batteries, spare charger, spare tapes.

Be sure to speak to the couple to see what they want.

go to the right church . make sure the battery is charged up on the camcorder. and that you have a tape in it. then just point and film.................preferably the bride and groom and not the sexy looking bridesmaid.
