well i daresay there is no one particular reason why you like christianity best, but the way you speak of it as your anchor with all the connotations of it keeping you locked in place, dragging you under and preventing you from moving on, suggests that it is not perhaps quite right for you.
but take heart! you mention having explored a few faiths over the years and found them wanting, but that doesnt mean you wont find one that suits you! my goodness, you could cheerfully spend a couple of lifetimes exploring them all! and if after that, you still didnt find what youre looking for, well then, dont sit there downcast and miserable, make a push! start up your own sect, cult, or faith! it's not as though as it's not been done before! many times! all it needs a little resolution on your part plus a dash of some divine inspiration, which last bit, admittedly, could be a snag.
but there again, maybe religion in general is not for you? why not have a go at atheism for a few months, and see how that goes?
7 years? bah! youve barely started on your quest! and now i come to think on it, didnt some wise fellow once say, search not for god, for he will find you? or something. (tho it does sound a bit scarey.)

If you're from the USA or any of a hundred or more countries, Christianity is this big monolith that looms large over all other alternate spiritual practices. It's the 'majority', and it's what all other faiths are inevitably compared to.
Is that fair? No, not for the other belief systems and not for Christianity either. But it's like that. You can reject Christianity, but you can't avoid it. It's always there.
Oh well... You can always more to a Muslim country or a Buddhist country!

It is society and environment may be. You was born as a christian.. When you do not see the light ahead or correct way, instinctively you will go back to palce which you know well.
Try to discover more about Islam. I know many people who found peace and answers . I do not know anybody who being converted to Islam turned back to christianity

im not sure.. i know where you are coming from... my guess would be that as imperfect as christianity is (as an organized religion) .. it is the only one that allows for our salvation.. through our Lord Jesus Christ... its a gift ...not because we are deserving..because we cant be good enough... (because God knows our imperfections) ..we cant earn our way.... we can only have faith and do our best ... besides...its not your religion that saves you .... its faith.... (and works) ... love one another and love God for this is the fulfillment of the law... thats why i always have come back
