Complictions following a colonoscopy are extremely rare. There is a slight risk of puncturing the colon or causing bleeding by damaging the wall of the colon or colon infection but these cases are extremely rare. I understand you are suffering extreme anxiety with regards to this but wouldn't you prefer the results to come back all clear as you are having this examination for a reason. The research i have done doesn't show anyone has died from having one so please try and ease your anxiety in knowing and believing this.

No, but one saved my friend's life.
If Colonscopy were inherently dangerous, you would have heard about it by now as hundreds are done every day for the past 10yrs or so.

I have a 'Colonscopy' done routinely every two years with no problems, 5 TIMES ALREADY.

If it's done by a doctor in a building where they practice medicine it's safe. If it's done by a homeless midget cab driver in the back of a cargo van with cardboard over the windows I would worry. Also pay attention to the doctor's hands. If he puts one hand on your shoulder while he's doing it it's OK. If he puts both hands on your shoulders you have a problem.

dun be worried u can ask to be put to sleep before the scope so u wont feel anything it is safe as everyday many people is having a scope done. i will be going for a bladder scope done in abt 20 days times im also worried but im think alot of people will be having the scope done so i will try to relax myself and get over with it. hope u can do the same relax yourself
