In my view the f-word coming from any womans mouth is FOUL,ugly, and demeaning.
And for that matter men too!
Do you also think that swearing in the houshold brings up nasty and ill behaved kids.

First off, the thing is not a word, it's an acronym and it stands for fornicating under carnal knowledge, hence it is not a word at all and therefore cannot be listed as bad. The only reason it is considered as such is because the Catholic religion deemed it as such which doesn't mean a thing to me. It's just like Ship High In Transit which is also not a word and therefore, I use it. It's a matter of opinion as to what is considered a foul word or not and now you know the facts behind it. Good question!!

Everyone doesn't use the F word! It shows ignorance and a lack of articulacy. As for swearing in the household for the most part the kids will be nasty and ill behaved - because of the lack of moral education.

Do you know anything about De-sensitisation? Over the years the acronym and many others have been used more and more, thanks to the media you cant get away from them, just turn on your t.v after 9 o'clock at night and count how many times you hear it in an hour. That doesn't mean i agree with you, true we could say that it is used by the less intelligent for their lack of vocabulary and start to go down the route of ho-ya they are so uneducated and there for lower than me on the pecking order but i wont. I personally think its a great term to use along with Bullox, and Sheeeiitteeee and can actually be more expressionate than you think.

Personally I think you should lighten the FCUK up!

None of my female friends would dream of using obscene language in public, and the only reason that I ever use it in public is if I'm SO wound up by some utterly useless act on somebodys' part that I just want to 'give them a mouthful'. It rarely does any good, but it sure makes you feel good. At home, I use it all the time with my partner and it's never meant offensively BUT when I get one of those phone calls from somebody trying to sell me something - or worse still an American voice telling me that I've just been selected for a cheap holiday, then THAT'S when the 'f' word comes to be something really USEFUL and VENOMOUS! F'in lovely ! ! !

nope i don't think that swearing brings up nasty ill behaved kids. (i swear, not in front of kids i may say) and yes I'm female and use the F word. but my parents were old school and never ever swore at all ever.
I started when i worked in factories so i suppose you pick up from other people but then again our next door neighbour when i was a kid used all the swear words going so perhaps its been in my subconsions all the time

Agree with you, uncouth and common to hear it from a woman's mouth, just as bad from a mans mouth, just down right disgraceful and totally unbelievable hearing from children's mouths, I honestly think some of the kids round our area were taught it as their first word, I listened to a woman shouting her child today and every other word she used was the F word and just as I was about to shake my head in disbelief her child answered her back with a bigger mouthful and even more F words, incredible that they can't read a good book or spell properly but can say every swear word known to man.

It is nasty and anyone that uses it sounds stupid ,,I don't think it breads bad children but gives them influence to use it ,,,,In some country's they don't look at it as a bad word at all but as an expression ,,,Here in Denmark the kids say it alot my own do and i hate it ,,but I'm an American and was brought up not to use foul language at all ,Hardly ever heard it and if i did i was somewhere listening to adults talk ,,My Uncle use to tell anyone that used it ,,Hope you don't kiss your mom with that nasty mouth ...Some don't consider it as a bad word at all just another bad use of a word ,,,

Uncool huh? So is spelling cool with a k. I dunno why I am replying to this one. The odd F can be very fulfilling, or if you're really P'd off you might want to intermingle F's with W's and T's and S's and C's...the F'ing list goes on but I can't be A'd to go into it. Bye for now, it's fine not to like people swearing but don't act light an uptight C every time someone uses a 'letter' you don't like.

I agree that it shows lack of imagination and is fowl sounding.

My husband and I saw a comedy show of guys dressed as chickens that were "bocking"...we use that for an alternate.

Example:

The car is boked. (Stopped running on the highway)

Why the bok can't you leave me alone in the morning when I'm on the internet typing Yahoo! Answers? (just now)

Swear words are usually used when the person using them has no knowledge of the correct English term, or are just to lazy to use correct vocabulary
